On May 17, 2013, 97-3 The Coast's own midday Cubana, Toni Gonzalez, hosted Miami Marlins Cuban Heritage Night at Marlins Park! Toni brought 50 listeners onto the Marlins Fan Express Team Bus to Marlins Park and into the Coast Championship VIP suite to watch the game & enjoy delicious Cuban food! Fellow Cuban & Marlins World Series Champion, Livan Hernandez stopped by to say hello, along with Billy The Marlin! Also, Toni threw out first pitch & the crowd to "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch! It was a night of pure fun!

Cannes is "Catching Fire" with the Hunger Games

Stars of the "Hunger Games" sequel, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Sam Clafin, arrived at the Cannes Film Festival. "Catching Fire," perhaps more than any other film not actually screening at Cannes, is seeking to use the festival's global platform to promote the highly anticipated sequel.

  • Storm Thorgerson, a graphic designer who created some of the most iconic album covers in rock history (Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy, etc.), died on April 18. He was 69.
  • Pat Summerall, a longtime sports broadcaster for CBS and Fox after a career as a player in the NFL, died on April 16 at the age of 82.
  • Chi Cheng (left), the original bass player for the rock group Deftones, died on April 13. He was 42.
  • Frank Bank, who played Lumpy Rutherford on the TV series 'Leave It To Beaver', died on April 13. He was 71.
  • Comic Jonathan Winters, a pioneer of improvisation who had a long career in film, TV and stand-up, died on April 11 at the age of 87.
  • Maria Tallchief, one of New York City Ballet's first prima ballerinas and the one-time wife of the company's founder George Balanchine, died on April 11 at the age of 88.
  • Annette Funicello, known best as one of the original Mickey Mouse Club Mousketeers, a co-star with Frankie Avalon in '60s beach-blanket movies and a pitchwoman for Disney and peanut butter after that, died on April 8 at the age of 70.
  • Lilly Pulitzer, a Palm Beach socialite and highly regarded fashion designer, died on April 7 at the age of 81.
  • Roger Ebert, the film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times who -- along with Chicago Tribune critic Gene Siskel -- popularized
  • Author and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, known best for the Booker Prize-winning novel Heat and Dust and the Oscar-winning screenplays for Howard's End and A Room with a View, died on April 3 at the age of 85.   • Record producer Phil Ramone, best known for his work with such artists as Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Billy Joel as well as the soundtrack of Flashdance, died on March 30 at the age of 79.
  • Actor Richard Griffiths, a Tony Award winner for The History Boys who also appeared in the Harry Potter films, Withnail and I and more, died on March 28 at the age of 65.

  • Clive Burr, former drummer with heavy metal icons Iron Maiden, died March 12. He was 56 and had multiple sclerosis.
  • Peter Banks, the original guitarist for the progressive rock band Yes, died on March 7 at the age of 65.
  • Alvin Lee, an English rock guitarist and singer best known as the lead guitarist and singer with the blues-rock band Ten Years After, died March 6 at the age of 68
  • Pianist Van Cliburn, considered one of the greatest American pianists ever, died on Feb. 27 at the age of 78.
  • Richard Street (pictured at far right), a singer best known as a member of The Temptations from 1971 to 1993, died Feb. 27 at the age of 70.
  • Cleotha Staples, singer in the sibling group and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Staple Singers, died on Feb. 22. She was 78.
  • Blues musician Magic Slim, a contemporary of blues pioneers such as Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, died on Feb. 21. He was 75.
  • Lou Myers, an actor best known for roles on the TV series 'A Different World' and 'All About the Andersons', died on Feb. 19 at the age of 77.
  • Kevin Ayers, a British musician who was highly influential in his country's psychedelic music scene both on his own and in the band Soft Machine, died on Feb. 18. He was 68.
  • Damon Harris (born Otis Robert Harris, seen here on the left), a singer who was a member of The Temptations from 1971-75 and sang on 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone', died on Feb. 18 at the age of 62. He is seen here with Temptations bandmate Melvin Franklin.
  • Country singer Mindy McCready, who picked up a No. 1 country single with her first release 'Guys Do It All The Time' in 1996, died on Feb. 17 at the age of 37.
  • Richard Briers, a British actor known for roles in TV shows such as 'The Good Life' and 'Monarch of the Glen' and movies such as 'Henry V', died on Feb. 17 at the age of 79.
  • Tony Sheridan, a singer perhaps best known for his collaborations with The Beatles early in their career, died on Feb. 16 at the age of 72.
  • Jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd, who worked closely with such artists as Herbie Hancock and Dexter Gordon and had a superb solo career, died on Feb. 4 at the age of 80.

  • Author and journalist Richard Ben Cramer, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1979 and wrote several best-selling books, including 'What It Takes: The Way to the White House', died on Jan. 7 at the age of 62.
  • Huell Howser, a television host known mostly for his show about California, 'California's Gold', died on Jan. 6 at the age of 67.
  • Singer/songwriter Sammy Johns, best known for his 1975 hit 'Chevy Van', died on Jan. 4 at the age of 66.
  • Ned Wertimer, a character actor known for his role as Ralph the doorman on 'The Jeffersons', died on Jan. 2 at the age of 89.
  • Singer Patti Page, known for her songs 'Tennessee Waltz' and 'How Much Is That Doggie In the Window?', died on Jan. 1 at the age of 85.
